Oilfield Cravings: New York Cheesecake

Maybe I was unable to tell you this, but I have been working offshore for more than two years now. It is quite an adventure to say the least. The dangers of this type of job surpass the pleasures given by it. Once you are in this little “island offshore”, anything could happen to you and help is quite limited. Try to watch the movie Deepwater Horizon with Mark Wahlberg, and you will understand what I am referring to.

The hazard are very abundant but there are a few good things, the people. I have met many good people on this field. People that I will cherish for the rest of my life. My life has been very hectic for the past months, and being offshore does not help it. I wish I could say that my personal and professional life are all I dreamed off, but it is not. In fact, I miss my family, friends, being free and of course, the food.

You knew I was going to talk about food. The love for food is never ending, and cannot be satisfied by the food provided here. I will not talk about the food over here because it is my only source of energy. All I will say is my cravings are not getting any smaller. The damn night cravings that do not leave me alone. Everyday I dream of a beautiful New York cheesecake from Texas de Brazil. One of the best cheesecakes I have ever tried during my stay in the States. How I wish I could have a bite right now. Not available here, and only the photos can kill my cravings. Maybe if I just wish harder, the cravings will go away. Oh sweet velvety texture, take me away.

P.S.: The cake in the photo is actually made of plastic. It is the sample for the desserts used in the restaurant Texas de Brazil. What a mouthwatering plastic, right? šŸ™‚

Until next time, Hungry People.
