There are certain types of dishes that are made for weekend breakfast. You know the ones that take longer to be done and require a little more work than your regular yogurt parfait and omelet. Because they involve more work and love, these fantastic dishes end up being at the top of the great breakfast dishes. The type to impress and make your family ask for more.
Dishes like Frittata, Cinnamon and Sticky Buns, Shakshuka, Quiches, Souffles, Stuffed French Toast are just some that come to mind at the moment. These types of food I consider it to be at the top of the super fancy and tasty food for breakfasts. They are absolutely perfect for any occasion, specially for a family breakfast. The yeasty taste and the sweet combination of cinnamon and brown sugar is divine for a special occasion. Guess what day is coming up? Valentine’s Day!
- 1 1/2 cup milk, warm
- 2 1/4 teaspoon instant dry yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 cup AP flour
- 3/4 teaspoon salt*
* Do not use salt if using the salted butter.
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 2/3 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon, or more if needed
- 3 tablespoon butter, melted
Place in a bowl beat all of the ingredients together until properly mixed, and you have a homogeneous mixture. The mixing of ingredients using the stand mixer or by hands. The homogeneous mixture has to be kneaded for at least 10 minutes before it is put in a lightly oiled bowl and covered with plastic wrap. The dough needs to be resting for at least 90 min or doubles in size.
In a pot/pan add the butter, brown sugar and maple syrup over medium heat. Constantly mix and stir it until everything is melted. Once the mixture is bubbling, pour it over your prepared (greased) 9 x 13 in pan. You can also use glassware for this one, as long as it is fit to go to the oven.
Dough final step
In a bowl, add the brown sugar, cinnamon for the filling. Once your dough has risen, roll it into a rectangle in a lightly floured surface. Brush your dough with butter and sprinkle with the filling mixture. As this step is complete, rolled up the dough from the longer side carefully. The dough can be cut into 12 pieces depending on how big you want the rolls to be. Place them into the prepared pan/glassware. Cover it with a kitchen towel. One thing you should remember is that the dough will still rise for at least and hour or so. Be careful with the size you choose for the rolls.
Pre-heat the oven to 180 ºC (350 ºF). Place the uncovered pan/glassware into the oven and bake it for 40-45 minutes, until they are golden brown. Remove from the oven, let it cool for 20 min and invert them into a desired pan or serving plate. Enjoy it.
